El Muelle Laguito Beach in Cartagena de Indias is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the view. Overlooking the Caribbean Sea, it offers plenty of seating options, an array of drinks, seafood and excellent service. You can sip the best  author cocktails watching the sunset, nibble a plate of freshly-caught fish or seafood.

Walls of Cartagena

It was built for the defense of the city, began at the end of the sixteenth century after the attack of the legendary Sir Francis Drake. The fortification is the most complete of the continent of South America and one of the best and well-preserved walls of the walled cities of the world and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Since the founding of Cartagena de Indias in 1533, and throughout the Spanish colonial era, it was one of the most important ports in America.

Cartagena ATV Tour

Explore the Colombian countryside on an action-packed ATV tour from Cartagena. Zip past several beaches, trails, dirt roads, and rock formations that can’t be found in the walled city. Enjoy panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and stop at a private spot on the beach for a traditional Colombian lunch or a refreshing dip in the sea. An experienced guide will accompany you to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride.

The Breakwater of Santa Catalina

A barrier constructed by Antonio de Arévalo in 1779 to protect the beach that developed in front of the Bulwark of Santa Catalina because of the construction of the Marina Wall (1765-1771), designed by the same engineer to eliminate the negative effects of the pounding of the sea against the walls.

The Bulwark of Santiago Apostol

It was one of the first sections constructed in the walled city, flanking the Bulwark of Santo Domingo on the left. Begun around 1614 by order of the governor, Diego de Acuña, its plan was designed by the engineer Cristóbal de Roda following the project proposed in 1595 by Bautista Antonelli, also an engineer, to protect the most exposed area of the city, the strip of sand that joined it to Bocagrande.

Beach at Barú

A very touristy place is Baru, a peninsula, often called an island, which is bounded by the bay of Cartagena, the Dique Canal and the Caribbean Sea. It is famous for its white and pink sands, as well as for its crystalline water that allows you to see the bottom and many colorful fish. Nearby there are mangrove swamps, water mirrors and underwater gardens.

Bird watching and adventure sports are very popular activities. It is one of the favorite destinations for tourists visiting Cartagena de Indias in Colombia, as it is only 45 minutes away by boat. Its beautiful landscapes, turquoise water and incredible beaches make the whole world fall in love. Most of the beaches are private, Playa Blanca is the only public beach.
